On May 27, 2021, the 7th China-Ireland Business Summit, organized by Asia Matters Ireland, took place online. The virtual summit featured a series of keynote speeches, expert panel discussions and open Q&A sessions focusing on the business opportunities of China-Ireland cooperation in the post-COVID-19 era.

Zhuang Jun, Head of SISS’s Research Department of Industrial Innovation, took part in an epxert panel on topics of topic of “Quality in Higher Education Driving Innovation and Global Business”, along with experts including Dr. Christina Yan Zhang, Founder Arete Intelligence (former China Director QS Intelligence Unit); Professor Maggie Cusack, Presdient of Munster Technological University; Professor Ben Shenglin,Professor and Dean Internaitonal Business School and Academy of Internet Finance, Zhejiang University; Bryan Maguirem Director Quality Assurance, QQI.

Zhuang Jun pointed out that from the industrial perspective, China and Ireland have opportunities for win-win cooperation in many aspects, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and biomedicine. For the sister cities of Shanghai and Cork, brain science, quantum science, regenerative medicine, mathematics and space science are suggested as priority directions for student and academic exchanges and joint laboratory construction. In answer to how to better address the problem in Sino-Ireland cooperation in high-school education, Zhuang Jun pointed out that participate in the construction of university science park development is a breakthrough point, in Ireland in Shanghai, for example, Shanghai's existing 14 state-level university science park and in 2020 issued "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the High-quality Development of University Science and Technology Parks in Shanghai”, There are plenty of opportunities for win-win cooperation in the "demand-r&d - manufacturing-product" loop.
